Dr. Courtney grew up near Stratford Ontario and throughout her childhood she cherished relationships with many family pets including two rambunctious huskies. Throughout high school, with her love for animals and medicine, there left little doubt she would pursue veterinary medicine.
She completed her undergraduate program at the University of Guelph in Animal Biology and then graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2019. Seeking the small town atmosphere they were accustomed to and a large and collaborative practice, her and her husband, Coleton, settled in Strathroy after graduation. They now own a “spirited” labradoodle named Mara who frequents the clinic for non-emergent medical care far more than Dr. Courtney would like!
Dr. Courtney has grown her professional career over the past few years in Strathroy and looks forward to expanding her knowledge into her areas of interest that include ultrasound, ophthalmology and surgery. She has to admit though, that her favourite part of the job has been building relationships with her clients and patients. Making a small difference in a patient’s quality of life to strengthen the human-animal bond is what makes this job so fulfilling.
